You're going to want to subscribe to my RSS feed. It's the greatest thing since sliced bread - even better, in fact. You know you want to.
How often you should post on your blog is often a hotly debated topic. Whether you post weekly (lazy!), every few days (me), daily (me with ideas), or multiple times a day (HOW?!?!?!), though, it’s clear that it does have an effect on traffic.
WHY?
There are three main ways in which blog post frequency affects traffic:
- More posts = more indexed pages = more search engine visitors = more pageviews (this also applies to blogging consistency)
- More posts = more content for readers to absorb = more pageviews.
- More posts = more resources for the reader = more likely they’ll return to the site/link to you = more pageviews/publicity
All of these seem to show this seems to point to one thing: the more you post, the more traffic you’ll generally get. In most cases, this is true - you just have to make sure your content doesn’t suck and your readers aren’t getting overwhelmed if you put out more than one post per day (this is why I don’t read Problogger).
SO, IN CONCLUSION…
Posting on your blog more often generally leads to more traffic. Can you still have a successful blog and post once a week? Yes. Will it be harder than if you posted daily? Generally. Just remember that frequent posts should take a backseat to post quality and marketing - you can be successful with the latter two but expecting visitors just because you crank out a bunch of generic, boring posts every day is folly.

Good post. Blogging more often does result inmore traffic. I notice that if i leave it 2 0r 3 days between posts then my traffic starts to drop so i try and blog every day.

I agree with these comments. Quality content posted once or twice a week is far more important than pithy comments posted seven or ten times a week.

Great post Max, I find it hard to post daily, only because I usually take some time to write my posts, I usually post every other day. But, being that I am a bit anal about my writing.
Thanks,
JR

I can attest to it bringing more organic google search traffic. posting 1x a day gives me roughly 60% of my traffic from google searches. On one blog I get 120 unique visitors with 180 page views a day. this is posting 4 to 5 times a week. posting 2x a day for a week will turn me into 500+ uniques a day with more than a 1000 hits and 85% of it coming from google and yahoo.

I know blogger that post once every 3-4 days and have a lot of visitors and a lot of comments because he responds to every comment. There are blogger who post 4-5 article per day and the have the same number of visitors like the blogger with fewer posts.

Great post. Since reading this post it has injected some enthusiasm into my blog life.
I am now starting the habit of writing a minimum of 3 posts a week, previously it was one a week
Already I’ve drafted up two posts in readiness.
I now just need to master the art of not writing massive essays per post, but finesse my posts to about 500 words or less.
Loving your work blogbadly

In my opinion frequent blog posting expresses the dedication and seriousness of the blogger.
With frequent quality postings, the blog also gets the trustworthy readership. So, frequent post grows your prestige, it plays an important role in building a strong truthful readership and finally you get the traffic.

more post -> more traffic -> more $$$ -> more smile
so more post -> more smile
so do i, if i get fresh idea in a day then i would post 3 until 6 posts but 3 posts at that day and the remain 3 posts have timestamp changed at the next day. And it’s happen in wordpress

Logical Conclusions… I just don’t have the patience to conjure up thoughts to post about.

Good post. I agree that quality is most important over frequency. Of course, like you stated you need to try and post more than once a week unless you have some great insightful brainstorm to put out once a week. Then maybe you could keep ‘em going back for more.
