If the page looks like a link farm then it wouldn’t be wise to add your link there as Google might also think it’s a link farm and end up penalizing your site.

I don’t think it would penalize you at all considering that if that were true, people would submit competitors websites to link farms and watch their ratings plummet. That would be chaotic. At worst, the links will be worthless.

If there were a true way to penalize a site, there’s be tons of ANTI-SEO firms who posted your competitors links on such sites, in order to bring them down, in turn, bringing you up.

Anti-SEO firms are you serious? I knew there were some shady tactics such as those but I didn’t think there were entire firms made just for something like that alone.

Actually you can get penalized, if your link appears on a couple of link farms there won’t be much change but if your link appears on various farms then Google will penalize it, they posted this in one of their blog posts.
Submitting to this is a good idea if you don’t think there is people doing harm to your site.

I’ve used sites like these in the past. Typically the worst that will happen is that the site you’re getting your link from will be de-listed. The only way this will “hurt” you is if you were relying on the site too heavily for anchor text links.

    Just my two cents :-)

Cheers for the tip. I was thinking about doing this on some free photo sites where you can go take a few snap shots (something worth uploading though) and in your “author bio” leave a link to your site.

Not sure how much “juice” will be passed but probably better than a “link farm” type site

Love the name of this blog too lol
