Yes, you read that title right. You should copy content to get the highest results from StumbleUpon. Sure, original stuff is great, but who really wants to put in the time and effort to create something popular? 99.596% of “Making Money Online” blogs are based on the premise of regurgitating content and they show no sign of stopping.

OKAY, BUT HOW DOES COPYING GET ME TRAFFIC?
Well, it’s not really copying per se. It’s more of taking things and putting your own spin on them. Take the following image, for example:

StumbleUpon Copying
Badly-drawn stick figures are amongst the most popular things on StumbleUpon.

As you can see, simply changing around a few things and adding some features creates a wholly new piece of content that eager StumbleUpon users can explore.

THE STEP-BY-STEP PROCESS TO COPYING CREATING POPULAR STUMBLEUPON CONTENT

  1. StumbleUpon various sites until you come upon one that you feel is popular.
  2. Check how many “Thumbs Up!” this item has in the review page. If it has over 20, it is suitable for your uses.
  3. Copy/paste the content into either Photoshop (images) or Wordpress (articles).
  4. Make a few changes. Try to add humor. Remember - StumbleUpon users love cats, funny videos, humorous quotes, new technology, and wit.
  5. Put it on your site!
  6. Wait for the traffic to pour in.

So remember - if it worked the first time, it’ll probably work again.

Did you lurve this post? Of course you did! That's why you should subscribe to my RSS feed for more juicy blogging tips and tricks! Juicy, I say! And send me all of your money while you're at it! Exclamation points!

I can’t tell if you’re joking or not, but I sure hope you are. Because it’s logic like this that forces me to use that pesky thumbs-down button so often.

Oh, pffft, surely a website with a name like “Blog Badly” would never offer any web advice jokingly!

    (Yeah, it’s a joke.)

I’m going to steal this and give no credit. If that’s ok with you, of course.

@soar: Of course! But be sure to change a few words around, or else people might find out.

@Louis: I suppose this is true. As original as Blog Badly is, my inspiration has to come from somewhere. Bad blogs, actually - hence the title.

    @Bob: I aim to please :)

I think Stumbleupon blocked my thumbs.
I don’t get traffic from SU anymore, I sent them an email with some lies and hopefully they will reactivate it :)

@Tim: Lies solve everything. Good work!

It’s said that originality and creativity are laudable. But, theft and plagiarism are easier and more quickly profitable.

Is this the course you are urging?

I have masses of badly drawn stick figures. Why am I not famous on Stumble Upon yet? Even my avatar there is a badly drawn stick figure. Now I feel like I just missed my big chance to take over the world. Darn, I hate when that happens.

@Jack Payne: Only in jest, my friend.

@Laura: Hm. I think I’ll check out your site and see what we can do about that :)
