Top Ten Reasons This List Won’t Be Popular On Digg/StumbleUpon/Generic Bookmarking Website

Files under Blog Marketing, Social Bookmarking | Posted by Max Miroff

You're going to want to subscribe to my RSS feed. It's the greatest thing since sliced bread - even better, in fact. You know you want to.

  • This is a bulleted list, and no one likes it. It’s like numbered list’s ugly adopted brother.
  • It tries to be funny but it isn’t. You see that attempted humour in the above bullet? Yeah. It wasn’t that funny, and that’s coming from the person that wrote it.
  • This list isn’t new content. Seriously, top ten lists are everywhere - what makes this one different from all the others? It’s just the same old crap in different, shinier packaging.
  • This list doesn’t have any images in it and thus looks pretty boring.
  • It’s published on a fairly unknown site, and if it’s not a big-name blogger then why should you even bother reading this post?
  • This list has a filler entry which really doesn’t contribute anything to the list except to add another entry.
  • This list is built purely to get more traffic in social websites and doesn’t provide any real value to its readers.
  • This list doesn’t elaborate on its points - it looks like it was put together in five minutes.
  • This list only has nine reasons. Users of Digg and StumbleUpon hate this a lot and often leave comments telling this to the author.

When this list fails, I won’t be sad - I’ve predicted it! Monitor the unpopularity!

Did you lurve this post? Of course you did! That's why you should subscribe to my RSS feed for more juicy blogging tips and tricks! Juicy, I say! And send me all of your money while you're at it! Exclamation points!

    Epic Fail. Try Again.

    Luckily the post was created not to get traffic. I’m crafty, aren’t I?

    By saying it was a fail, you mean it received traffic. Muahaha! Logic!

    Yet another person stealing my idea. :(

    So if you fail, then you win, and if you win, you fail, thereby winning. Which results in failure. Which is a win.

    Your logic has outsmarted the internet.

    Um… seems familiar, poser!!!

    Stop stealing other peoples stuff, or atleast give them some credit!!

    @bigman & Shmoke: Aww, you’re too kind.
    @Katie: I’ll do my best ;)
    @Tyler: Huh? What’d I steal from you? I’ve never heard of you before.
    @Flowercat: This is so.
    @Klaargemaak: Oh, so THATS what I apparently “stole.” The fun thing is: I’ve never read that post before and none of my points are on his list. In fact, I would say that my list is 1308% gooder. This has been proven by SCIENCE (my magic eight ball)

    Thanks for commenting on my blog and assuming I’m some sort of horrible thief, btw. If you want to know where I got the idea, I was talking to Collin LaHay of Mixed Market Arts about his best posts and noticed one of his top ones was “Ten reasons this list will be popular on Digg.” Considering my blog is satire, I decided to parody it. It has nothing to do with your post.

    You ARENT stumbled! FAIL! HAHA!

    Haha, im jus jokin, i love this post! Thankfully, im not one of those people who compain about what people post… because i appreciate that people actualy post stuff on the net for me to “stumbleupon” if it werent for people like you… what good would stumble upon be? An then how am i going to procrastinate? World of Warcraft? Dear god i hope not.

    Whats more, those people who have “failed” and “epic failed” you probably have nothing to show for their own lives, an this shows in the fact they can only criticise others for doing what they fail to do in theirs!

    So heres me officially, certifiably, and on behalf of this awesome post, “Epic Fail” all those who criticise anything they havent done better themselves =)

    As some might say.. PWND! HA! (an i still dont really know what that means)

    It also wont suprise me if someone fails this comment. Which is why, to my suprise, i have already predicted the future!

    Nice post btw!

    @Mark: Your comment most certainly is not anything close to fail. In fact, it is leaning towards win. :)

    “This list doesn’t elaborate on its points - it looks like it was put together in five minutes.”

    Let me guess.. it was, wasn’t it?

    Now if only my hosting company would get their act together so I could post a list of equally epic failings…

  15. By Max Miroff on Mar 26, 2008 | Reply

    @Dave: How dare you! This list was put together in roughly seven minutes. Man, the nerve of some people… :P

    I was going to digg this, but it is just too much work. Hey, I’m a busy blogger- I can’t waste my time ‘digging’ stuff… I’ve got to slave away over this hot keyboard so that I can make my $0.07 today. Otherwise I can’t afford my Ramen noodles.

  18. By Max Miroff on Mar 27, 2008 | Reply

    @lou: Whoops, must’ve overlooked that. Wink wink.
    @Sly: SEVEN CENTS?!?!?!? HOW DO YOU MANAGE TO DO IT?

  19. By Tyler Menezes on Mar 27, 2008 | Reply

    Sorry to accuse you. People keep stealing the page word-for-word, and a few have admitted to taking the idea from me.

  20. By Max Miroff on Mar 27, 2008 | Reply

    Aw, I was hoping you’d be one of those bloggers that would vehemently accuse me and try to crush my soul etc. etc.

    Thank you, Tyler. Much love. I even Stumbled your post! :P
