Picking the font that’s right for your blog can be a daunting task. I mean, come on, just look at all of those fonts to the left. Seriously. Aren’t they scary? Especially Courier. It stares into my soul…
Lets get off of the topic of demonic fonts and back onto the process of choosing one:
FONT FALLACIES
Before we begin, it’s important to note a few things:
– Comic Sans is a GREAT font! Don’t listen to what everyone else says – they’re just jealous!
- Times New Roman, Verdana, and Arial are, in fact, not the only fonts out there.
- Using Wingdings is perfectly acceptable as long as you don’t expect people to read it.
FINDING FONTS
To find the perfect text type for you, you’re going to need to go through a very important series of steps that will culminate in glorious epiphany. Take some deep breaths, relax, dim the lights, and concentrate. Become one with your blog and th-
Hah. Who am I kidding. Getting a font is easy! Here are some simple steps that are sure to help you find the ideal font for your blog.
- Picking a font is as simple as opening up Microsoft Word, clicking on the tab where it asks for font, closing your eyes, smiling, and clicking. Remember this
- It is very important to consider font color when deciding upon one. Your text needs to either clash with your site theme so that it is painful to read OR blend in like a chameleon in a tub of chameleons. (more information about blog color here)
- If all else fails, don’t go with the generic look of fonts like Times New Roman or Verdana – that’s just boring. Just because millions of people use them to great success doesn’t mean they’re anything special.

If its worth reading, does it matter the font? Will one say..”oh, the horror” its comic sans? I will only read rockwell.. and where is Mr. Tuttle – would he have cared?

Fonts are a _very_ touchy subject. I’m glad you mentioned it in this post! The one that gets me is, more than color, people who love to use MORE THAN THREE FONTS in an area!!!
So, think logically, the average reader can SCROLL DOWN on your page and see more real estate than with the printed copy. Therefore, if you love to use lots of fonts, ’cause it’s cool, you be hosin’ your readership as well …
Who knows, maybe there are lots of John Lovitz-ites out there that just LOVE lots -O- fonts at once … ???
Great site, I faved ya and also BlogCatalog rated ya – good stuff to be found here, people!
“Don’t move along, here, something to see!”
Take care,
Steve

I wish you were my neighbor – then I’d have a sore stomach from laughing too much. I know you gave my blog an awesome review (thanks again for that), but even if you’d slammed me, I’d still laugh along with you. And as I’ve said before in another comment the other day, there’s actually a lot of good sense here too. Who could ask for more than humor and sense in the same mouthful? More of the same, please!
